×Imo-yokan (sweet potato bar)
Why you must eat itSweet potato, sugar and a pinch of salt — nothing else. Every bar is peeled by hand, so only the potato itself is left on the palate. Firm when chilled, soft at room temperature. It does not keep: eat it that day or the next.
Founded 1902. Proper yokan was expensive then, so they made a version from sweet potato that ordinary people could afford — that is the origin. Alongside it, the five-colour ankodama are a signature. The main shop has a tearoom on the second and third floors.
