Totoya (Hoppy Street)
×Beef Nikomi (stewed offal)
Why you must eat itOpen from 9:30 in the morning, and the outdoor seats fill before noon. Nikomi here is not fixed to miso or soy — every shop tastes different, and that is the point of this street. Sit down with a drink and the tourist current around the temple suddenly looks like another world.
One of the taverns on Hoppy Street (also called Nikomi Street), a 100-metre run of drinking places west of Sensoji. The Showa-era air is intact, and you can drink from midday even on a weekday. Okamoto and Takahashi on the same street are also known for their nikomi.
