Why you must eat itNoodles dressed in crab meat and roe, nothing else. There is no broth to drink — the crab clings to the strands. 98 CNY a bowl, and people still queue. The crabs are picked in-house daily, and both species and quantity shift with the season, so timing your visit matters.
A century-old Suzhou house, nicknamed the Hermès of noodles. Beyond crab roe noodles they are known for sanxia mian — shrimp meat, roe and head fat — made only in early summer. The People's Square branch is at 151 Hubei Road, about seven minutes from Nanjing Road East station. It closes at 8pm, so lunch is the safer bet.
