Local fish shops, Kamogawa
×Namero (minced fish tartare)
Why you must eat itLocal fish like horse mackerel or sardine minced with miso, ginger and scallion. The name comes from being good enough to "lick the plate." It is said to have begun with fishermen who, unable to use bowls on a rolling boat, minced it instead. Over rice or beside a drink. The raw taste of the Boso sea.
Namero is a local dish said to have originated in Boso, and most Kamogawa fish shops and diners serve it. The fish is whatever came in that day, and each shop judges the miso differently. Grill it and it becomes sangayaki. Ordered as a specialty, many in Kamogawa take it alongside a bowl.
