This one leans on cup-by-cup hand-drip, the window holding the boats moored in the basin and Yanwu Bridge beyond. After a run of salt from seafood and snacks, a bright, acidic cup resets the palate. Beans range from light to dark roast, and the staff will suggest one if you tell them your taste. When your legs tire, take a breather here before the second half.
The Shapowei area is a former fishing harbour built around its boat basin, and since the 2010s it has become a district of cafes, small shops and art spaces set in old-town buildings. Xiamen University is close, so students and young people fill it. The coffee shops are mostly owner-run, each with its own take on beans and brewing. Folding one in as a place to sit and rest with a sea view gives the route its change of pace.
