Tim Ho Wan

×Baked Char Siu Bun

酥皮焗叉燒包

Why you must eat itA sweet baked crust like a pineapple bun, flaking thin when you break it. Inside, a molten filling of sweet-savoury char siu. Fresh-baked, the crust is light and crisp, the fat of the filling meeting the sugar of the top. One of the most popular dim sum of all, ordered by ticking a slip.

Tim Ho Wan began in 2009 as a small dim sum shop in Sham Shui Po. A Michelin star at humble prices made its name overnight, and it now has branches far and wide. But its origin is this old quarter, and the baked char siu bun is its signature. It makes yum cha casual — order plate by plate at the table.
