Why you must eat itOn the corner of Yaowarat and Soi Texas, staff in green shirts stand over buckets of prawns and crab. After dark the tables spill onto the pavement and charcoal smoke drifts down the street. Order salt-grilled or garlic prawns, or clams stir-fried with basil, and eat them with plain rice. Cheap and generous — the benchmark for street seafood.
Yaowarat is Bangkok's Chinatown, running since the 19th century. T&K sits at its heart by the mouth of Soi Texas, red-shirted Lek & Rut facing it across the lane. Open from around 4:30pm until late. Queues form, so put your name down and wander the nearby stalls while you wait.
