Saga-tofu Ine
×Yudofu Set
Why you must eat itArashiyama, blessed with clear water, is also a home of yudofu. At Saga-tofu Ine, house-made tofu is warmed slowly in a kombu-broth pot and taken with condiments and dipping sauce, served as a set with rice and yuba. The tofu is soft, the soybean sweetness coming through plainly, the broth and condiments drawing the taste taut. From the second-floor seats you can see the gate of Tenryuji and Arashiyama's green. Warm tofu soothes tired legs — a set to catch your breath between sweets and street food.
A tofu-and-yuba restaurant right by Randen Arashiyama station, before the gate of Tenryuji. Centred on yudofu made with house tofu, served as a set with yuba and Kyoto vegetables. The second-floor windows look out on Arashiyama's scenery, so you dine with the turning seasons. On Nagatsuji Street, where most shops are for eating on the go, it suits when you want to sit and eat something warm. A house where you can quietly taste Kyoto's tofu.
