Toshimaya Hato Sabure (dove biscuit)

Toshimaya

×Hato Sabure (dove biscuit)

Why you must eat itA dove-shaped, buttery biscuit — the absolute classic Kamakura souvenir, named for the doves of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. Plain, crisp and light, it never tires you. Less a snacking finale than the plate you buy to take home at the Wakamiya-oji main shop. Sold singly, so you may bite one on the spot.

A Kamakura confectioner founded 1894 with its main shop on Wakamiya-oji. Hato Sabure, created soon after opening, has been unchanged for over a century, and its yellow tin is a symbol of Kamakura souvenirs. Stopping at the main shop for a gift is the classic way to close the approach walk.
