Donburi Chaya (Nijo)
×Crab Miso Soup
Why you must eat itOrder a seafood bowl and the thing you want to close with is crab soup. Chunks of crab go into the miso soup shell and all, the broth dissolved with crab stock and the richness of its innards. Picking the meat from the shell and pushing it out with a finger is part of the bowl. After the rice, the hot soup soaks into a body cold from the morning. Donburi Chaya's signature is its seafood bowls, but this soup pulls a market breakfast together.
Donburi Chaya is one of Nijo Market's signature seafood-bowl shops, known for a "wagamama bowl" you top as you please with urchin, roe, crab and more. Besides the bowls, you can add crab soup and small dishes à la carte. Open from around half past seven to early evening, facing the market arcade. A shop that reads to tourists and locals alike, sometimes queuing at breakfast. A plate you sit down to eat.
