Kasho Umon (Bell Tower)
×Imokoi (sweet-potato mochi)
Why you must eat itA round of sweet potato and chunky bean paste wrapped in a chewy yam dough and steamed — a warm sweet. Kawagoe is a sweet-potato town, and this is its byword. The soft potato and the paste's sweetness become one fresh from the steamer. Have one steaming under the Bell Tower. The heart-topped soft-serve is here only.
Kasho Umon, a Kawagoe wagashi shop known for "imokoi." Its Bell Tower branch, right by the tower, sells freshly steamed imokoi at the storefront and the branch-only "koi" soft-serve. Kawagoe prospered as a sweet-potato growing and trading hub, and potato sweets became its specialty.
