Why you must eat itA local sake brewed with spring water from Naritasan. The brewery's own shop sits partway down the approach, so you can taste before you buy. Dry, but without edges — built to stand up to the sweetness of the eel sauce waiting further down. One glass before the eel does real work.
The shop of Takizawa Honten, a brewery founded in 1872. The sake was made for pilgrims to Naritasan from the start. Brewery tours are possible, and the shop opens every day until 7pm — late, on a street where most shutters come down in the afternoon.
