Warorot fruit stalls
×Seasonal fruit (longan, mango)
แผงผลไม้ × ผลไม้ตามฤดู
Why you must eat itAround the market's edge, stalls pile fruit in mounds. With the northern orchards close by, longan and lychee are cheap, and in season so are mango and rambutan. Ask and they will peel it and hand you a bag with a bamboo skewer. The sweet juice washes off the heat and grease of the market walk. The lineup changes with the season.
Chiang Mai's cool highland gives many kinds of fruit with clear seasons — longan in summer, mango from spring to early summer, strawberries a dry-season specialty. Sold mostly by weight, so say "just a little" for a small amount. Peeled fruit is washed, but if unsure buy it whole and peel it yourself. Prices are a guide.
